COVID-19 Survey

Antibody testing

The deadline for signing up to take part in our COVID-19 antibody testing project has now passed. Thank you to everyone who agreed to take part. By taking part you will help us get a better understanding of how many people may have been infected with COVID-19 and why some people develop severe disease.

You should receive your blood sample collection kit by post in the second half of April. Your test kit will include an instruction sheet. Please read this carefully before beginning the test as this will help ensure that the test is successful. Please also watch the video below which shows you what’s involved.

Once you have collected your sample, please make sure you label your sample and complete the return form before you post it back. It’s really important that your sample is labelled correctly otherwise we will not know who it belongs to. You can find additional information on how to label and return your sample in this guidance document.

Please try and complete your test and post back your blood sample within a few days.

Thank you so much for your help with this important research.

Online surveys

Since the start of the pandemic, we’ve asked you to take part in three online surveys, so we could learn how COVID-19 has been affecting your work, your health, your family and your social life. We also asked participants in four other cohort studies (born in 1946, 1958, 1970 and 2000-02) to complete these surveys. Around 30,000 people across the five studies have completed at least one of them.

The information you have all provided is incredibly valuable. Not only is it helping us to understand the immediate implications of the pandemic, but it will also enable us to track the long term effects, as we continue to follow your lives into the future.

You can read about some of our early findings in the News section of our website.
